Bangda Naked Fry is one of the easiest seafood dishes you will come across. It is an excellent 5 ingredient recipe, ideal for novices.

Bangda Naked Fry is extremely healthy and one can indulge guilt free.

Bangda also known as Indian mackerel is found in warm, shallow coastal waters of the Indian and West Pacific Oceans. It is rich in Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. This helps in reducing inflammation and also reduces risks of heart disease, cancer and arthritis.

Many dishes can be prepared with Bangda (Mackerel) as it is a very versatile fish. The dish that I am sharing is called Bangda Naked Fry. Naked Fry means that that fish (machli) is not coated with any batter like rava (semolina) or rice (chawal). It is cooked only by applying masalas and salt (namak).

Now, let us take a look at how to prepare this dish.

Take fresh bangda (mackerel). If the eyes of the fish (machli) are clear that means it is fresh. Another way to check the freshness is from the smell of the fish (machli). If it smells like the sea then it is fresh.

Clean the fish properly. Normally, I discard the eyes and tail of the fish. In this dish, I have retained it as it is a very rustic dish. If you wish, you can remove them. Once you clean it, apply salt to it and let it rest for at least 15 minutes.

Take turmeric (haldi) powder, hot red chilli (tikhalal) powder, Kashmiri lal mirch (red chilli) powder.  The salt (namak) is applied in the step before.

Heat a tawa (griddle) by applying cooking oil (tel) to it. Place the marinated fish (machli) on the tawa (griddle) and cook it on the both sides on a medium flame.
