Directions
Chilli Makhanas is a very healthy and tasty dish.
Chilli Makhanas can be prepared within 15 minutes. Makhanas are also called Lotus seeds, Fox nut, Euryale ferox or Gorgon nuts.
Makhanas are low in calories but rich in dietary fibre. It is also rich in protein and various minerals like potassium, sodium, calcium and phosphorus. It is low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Makhanas are very beneficial for people suffering from diabetes, hypertension and obesity.
In India, Makhanas are consumed a lot in North India. It is produced on a large scale in the state of Bihar. Internationally, it is produced in Korea, Japan and some parts of Russia.
Now, let us see how to prepare this simple and healthy Chilli Makhanas.
Take makhanas (lotus seeds) in a mixing bowl and add cooking oil (tel) to it.
Add red chilli (lal mirch) powder as per your desired level of hotness.
Now, add salt (namak) as per taste.
Mix everything properly, and put it in a kadhai (wok).
Turn on the gas stove and roast till the makhanas (lotus seeds) are crisp. Make sure you roast them on a medium flame or else they might burn.
Your crisp, hot makhanas (lotus seeds) are ready for snacking. Put them in an air tight container so that they stay crisp for a long time.
You can have these at any time of the day through out the year. Flavoured makhanas are also available in the market but I always prefer to prepare it at home.

Step 1Take 100 grams makhanas (lotus seeds) in a mixing bowl. Add 1 tbsp cooking oil (tel), 1 tbsp red chilli (lal mirch) powder and salt (namak) as per taste. |
