Ingredients

Adjust Servings:
250 grams Cooked white rice (Pake hue safed chawal)
1 tsp Urad Dal
1 tsp Chana Dal
1 tsp Mustard seeds (Rye)
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
2 sprigs Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
2 Green Chillies (Hari Mirch) (Slit lengthwise)
1 Dry red (Lal mirch) chilli
1/4 tsp Turmeric (Haldi) powder
1 tsp Roasted peanuts (Moongaphali)
1 1/2 (Big) Lemon (Nimbu)
1 1/2 tbsp Cooking Oil (Tel)
2 tbsp Coriander (Dhania) leaves finely chopped
As per taste Salt (Namak)

Lemon rice/ Chitranna is one of the easiest and time saving dishes if you are pressed for time or you want to have a light lunch/dinner. Even if you do not want to onions and garlic on certain days, this dish would be perfect.

Step 1

Heat oil (tel) in a pan, add urad dal and chana dal. Then add mustard seeds (rye) and after they splutter, add cumin seeds (jeera), green chiilies (hari mirch), dry red chilli (sukhi lal mirch) and curry leaves (kadi patta).

Add turmeric (haldi) powder and roasted peanuts (moongphali) and saute for 5 seconds.

Add the cooked rice (pake hue safed chawal) and salt (namak) and mix properly.

Cover the rice (chawal) and keep on a low flame till the rice (chawal) becomes hot.

Add the lemon juice (nimbu ka ras), mix properly and turn off the gas.

Garnish with coriander (dhania) leaves.
