500 grams Chopped Musk Melon (Cantaloupe) pieces
1/2 cup or as per taste [1 cup = 250 ml] Sugar (Shakkar)
5 Green Cardamom (Choti Elachi)
As per taste Thin Poha (Flattened Rice)
Musk Melon also known as honey dew, cantaloupe or chibud with poha is a quick and delicious 4 ingredient dish.
Musk Melon with poha is an ideal dish for hot summers as it is light on the stomach and is very cooling.
This musk melon with poha is a dish which I have grown up eating. Every time there would be a musk melon (cantaloupe) at home, I would ask my mother to prepare this for me. I have so many fond memories of eating it. Right now, while I am writing this post, I am reliving all those moments.
So, dearies let’s see how to prepare this easy breezy dish.
First, take fresh, sweet musk melons (cantaloupe).
Remove the skin of the musk melon (cantaloupe) with a knife.
Cut the musk melon (cantaloupe) into half.
Remove the seeds and the pulp.
Cut the musk melon (cantaloupe) into small pieces.
Add sugar (shakkar). You may change the quantity of sugar (shakkar) as per your taste.
Peel the green cardamom (choti elaichi) and make a powder of the green cardamom (choti elaichi) seeds with a mortar and pestle and then add it to the mixing bowl. The quantity of the green cardamom (choti elaichi) powder will vary depending on it’s quality. If it is very fragrant, add less and if it is not very fragrant then increase the quantity.
Mix it together, once the sugar (shakkar) melts completely, add the thin poha (flattened rice) and mix it. Add the poha (flattened rice) just before serving. You may also chill the musk melon (cantaloupe) mixture before serving.
