200 grams Oats
2 tbsp Peanuts (Shengdana)
1 tbsp Almonds (Badam)
2 tbsp Roasted Bengal Gram (Bhuna Hua Bengal Gram)
1 tbsp Cashew Nut (Kaju) pieces
1 tbsp White Sesame Seeds (Til)
6 Green Chillies (Hari Mirch)
7 sprigs Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
1 tbsp Coriander (Dhania) Powder
2 tsp Cumin (Jeera) Powder
1 tsp Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
1 tsp Hing (Asafoetida) Powder
4 tbsp Cooking oil (Tel)
1 tbsp Raisins (Kismis)
5 Dried Coconut Pieces (Khopra)
2 tbsp Sugar (Shakkar)
2 1/2 tsp Salt (Namak)

Oats Poha Chivda is a healthier version of the traditional deep fried chivda.

Oats Poha Chivda is a 100% vegan and gluten free snack.

This Oats Poha Chivda is very easy to prepare and it’s ingredients are readily available. Chivda is one of the most loved snacks. It is normally prepared with thin poha (flattened rice). There are innumerable varieties of chivda and one can be as creative as one wants to while preparing it. This is my non deep – fried version of the chivda.

Now, let us see how to prepare this non deep – fried Oats Poha Chivda.

You will need, thin poha (patla poha).

Turmeric (haldi) powder.

Peanuts (shengdana).

Cashew nut (kaju) pieces.

Almonds (badam). Slice the almonds (badam).

Chopped green chillies (hari mirch).

Dried Coconut (khopra) pieces.

Roast the dried coconut (khopra) pieces with little oil (tel)

Coriander (Dhania) powder.

Sugar (shakkar).

Roasted Bengal Gram (Bhuna hua Bengal gram).

White sesame seeds (safed til).

Cooking Oil (tel).

Curry leaves (kadi patta).

Firstly, dry roast the white sesame seeds (safed til) till the time they give out an aroma and there is a slight change in colour. Remove and keep it aside.

Put thin poha (patla poha) in a kadhai (wok).

Add 2 tsp cooking oil (tel) and roast till they are crisp.

Add oats and 1 tsp cooking oil (tel) and roast till they start giving out an aroma.

heat 1 tsp cooking oil (tel) in a kadhai (wok).

Roast the peanuts (shengdana). Remove and keep aside.

Heat 1 tsp cooking oil (tel), add turmeric (haldi) powder.

Then add hing (asafoetida) powder.

Add curry leaves (kadi patta).

Stir it on a low flame and then add the roasted Bengal gram (bhuna hua Bengal gram) and give it a nice stir.

Then add the cashew nut (kaju) pieces.

Add raisins (kismis).

Then, add the sliced almonds (badam).

Add the chopped green chillies (hari mirch) and fry till the dry fruits turn slightly brown and the green chillies (hari mirch) turn crisp.

Then, add the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til).

Add the roasted peanuts (shengdana).

Then, add roasted dry coconut (khopra) pieces.

Add the roasted thin poha (patla poha).

Then, add the roasted oats.

Add salt (namak).

Now, add coriander (dhania) powder.

Finally, add sugar (shakkar).

Step 1

Put 250 grams thin poha (patla poha) in a kadhai (wok). Add 2 tsp cooking oil (tel) and roast till they turn crisp. Remove and keep aside. Put 200 grams oats and 1 tsp cooking oil (tel) and roast till it gives out an aroma. Remove and keep aside.

Take 1 tbsp white sesame seeds (safed til) and dry roast it. Heat 1 tsp cooking oil (tel), add the peanuts (shengdana) and roast them and keep aside. Again heat 1 tsp cooking oil (tel) and roast 5 dried coconut (khopra) pieces and keep aside.

Heat 1 tsp cooking oil (tel), add 1 tsp turmeric (haldi) powder. Then, add 1 tsp hing (asafoetida) powder. Add curry leaves of 7 sprigs (Kadi Patta). Then, add 2 tbsp roasted Bengal gram (Bhuna hua Bengal gram). Then, add 1 tbsp cashew nut (kaju) pieces, add 1 tbsp sliced almonds (badam) and then add 1 tbsp raisins (kismis). Add 6 chopped green chillies (hari mirch) and stir everything properly till the dry fruits turn slightly brown and the green chillies turn crisp.

Add the roasted white sesame seeds (safed til), roasted peanuts (shengdana) and roasted dried coconut (khopra) pieces. Give it good stir.

Add the roasted poha, roasted oats, 1 tbsp coriander (dhania) powder, 2 tsp cumin (jeera) powder, 2 1/2 tsp salt (namak) and 2 tbsp sugar (shakkar). Mix everything properly. Your Oats Poha Chivda is ready!!!
