1 cup Cooked Rice (Pake hue safed chawal)
1 Slit lengthwise Green Chilli (Hari Mirch)
1 Dry Red chilli (Sukhi Lal Mirch)
1 1/2 tsp Sambar Powder
1/2 tsp Red Chilli (Lal mirch) Powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric (Haldi) Powder
1 tsp Tamarind (Imli) pulp
2 tbsp Water (Paani)
3/4 tsp Mustard seeds (Rye)
1/2 tsp Cumin (Jeera) Seeds
1/2 tsp Urad Dal
1/2 tsp Chana Dal
1 sprig Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
2 tbsp Cooking Oil (Tel)
3 tbsp chopped Coriander (Dhania) leaves
As per taste Salt (Namak)
1 chopped Onion (Pyaaz)

Phodnicha Bhaat also known as tempered rice/ tadka rice/ seasoned rice is one of the easiest rice dishes. Especially If you have any left-over rice, this dish can be prepared under 10 minutes.

Step 1

Heat oil (tel) in a wok, add urad dal, chana dal, mustard seeds (rye) and after they splutter, add the cumin seeds (jeera), green chilli (hari mirch), dry red chilli (sukhi lal mirch) and curry leaves (kadi patta).

Add the chopped onion and saute till its translucent then add the turmeric (haldi) powder, sambar powder, red chilli (lal mirch) powder and tamarind (imli) pulp.

Add 2 tbsp water (paani) and mix properly. Now add the cooked rice (pake hue safed chawal) and mix properly.

Garnish with coriander (dhania) leaves.
