Tomato Omelette Recipe

  • Gluten Free
  • Vegan

Tomato Omelette is a delight for vegans and vegetarians.

  • Serves 6
  • Easy

Tomato Omelette is a boon for vegetarians who want to eat omelettes.

Tomato Omelette is made with besan or chickpea flour.

It is rich in protein, fiber, iron, potassium, manganese and other vitamins and minerals.

Also tomatoes (tamatar) and onions (pyaaz) add to the taste as well as the health factor.

Since I am a pure vegetarian, I really love this dish. I ate this for the first time at my youngest maternal uncle’s place. My aunt had prepared it for breakfast. Ever since that day, I fell in love with it. Over the years my mother used to prepare it quite often and I would devour it to my heart’s content.

It is also an excellent option for gluten free and vegan food. Moreover, it is also low in calories, carbs and fats. It is very rich in plant based protein.

This dish is very easy to prepare. First, finely chop onions (pyaaz), tomatoes (tamatar), green chillies (hari mirch) and coriander leaves (dhania). Mix all the ingredients along with salt (namak). Add water (paani) to get your desired consistency and your batter is ready.

You can also add fine semolina (chiroti rava) or rice flour (chawal ka atta) if you like.

Heat a griddle/tava with cooking oil (tel) and pour the batter. Make sure you bring the batter from the outer circle towards the centre. This will give you round omelettes.

You can have with this tomato (tamatar) ketchup or bread toast or as it is without any accompaniments.

Finally, as always I request you to try these dishes and give your comments. We would be honoured to receive them.

I am also sharing links of other dishes from this website. Do try these as well. Eggless Pancake, Eggless Nutella Pancake, Set Dosa, 3 Dal Dosa, Masala Dosa, Gobi Paratha, Urad Dal Paratha.

Step 1

Finely chop onion (pyaaz), tomatoes (tamatar) and coriander leaves (dhania). Chop the green chiilies (hari mirch).

Step 2

Mix all the ingrdients except water (paani) and salt (namak).

Step 3

Once they are mixed properly, add water (paani) to make a thick batter because the onions (pyaaz) will release water (paani) after a while. Add salt (namak).

Step 4

Heat a griddle and smear cooking oil (tel), pour the batter in such a way that you spread from the outside towards the centre.

Step 5

Cover it with a cloche (dhakkan), once the bottom turns light brown, flip it and do not cover it.

Step 6

Cook till it is done. Healthy tomato omelette is ready to be devoured.
