White Sesame Seed Shake or Til Juice or Ellu Juice is a healthy and tasty drink with the goodness of white sesame seeds, and jaggery. This recipe is rich in vitamins, minerals like Iron, Fibre and Magnesium.

White Sesame Seed Shake, also known as ellu juice or til juice is very unique in taste. It is not your run of the mill  recipe. Very few hotels have it on their menu.

The first time I tasted white sesame shake or til juice or ellu juice was in Manjeshwar which is a town in Kerala. On a hot summer afternoon, drinking this chilled drink gave me respite from the intense heat. Later on, I started searching for the recipe of this drink on the internet. After I found the ingredients, I prepared it with my own measurements.  After tasting it, I fell in love with it all over again.

White sesame seeds or safed til has many health benefits like it improves blood pressure, lowers bad cholestrol, balances hormones, fights cancer, aids in weight loss and is a good source of iron and magnesium.

Jaggery or gud is beneficial is many ways like it helps relieve constipaion, helps to detox by flushing out harmful toxins from the body and is very rich in antioxidants and essential minerals like zinc and selenium.

This drink does not contain any milk, so even vegans can enjoy this drink.

It is ideal if one feels like having a light breakfast or evening snack. It is even healthier because it has jaggery instead of refined sugar.

I am sure most of you have tasted and prepared many shakes and juices of different flavours but do try this recipe. You are bound to love it.

Let us now see how to prepare this yummy drink.

Firstly, you will need white sesame seeds.

Soak the white sesame seeds in drinking water for around 30 minutes.

Take jaggery and place it in drinking water for around 30 minutes so that it melts.

Now, grind the white sesame seeds with the water in which it was soaked. Do not discard it. After grinding, put it through a sieve.

Once the jaggery melts, put the jaggery water through a sieve. This helps in removing any impurities, if any.

Then, mix the two liquids together.

Refrigerate it and pour in glasses when about to serve. One can also drink it at room temperature.

Please use the exact measurements mentioned in the ingredients list. Do not increase or decrease the quantity of water either as it will affect the consistency and taste of the White Sesame Seed Shake.

Finally, as always I look forward to your candid feedback.
